Our first edition about the birds of Hambourg.

In order to get to know your city and the local urban nature, start by discovering the birds that live there! Is there anything more beautiful than birds?

Bilinguals Books

Purpose:

These books are not meant to replace science books but are rather discovery material to raise urban biodiversity awareness. They help foreign speakers connect with nature, supporting bilingual families and fostering intercultural exchanges.

They offer new perspectives for locals who wish to broaden their foreign language vocable.

Approach:

  • Contextual Learning: Presenting fauna and flora in their natural habitats.
  • Visual Appeal: Using both photographs and illustrations for inclusive identification.
  • Educational Insights: Providing details on each animal’s lifestyle and the wonders of the plants.
  • Interactive Engagement: Including games and activities to reinforce learning.

These books are designed to answer the first questions everyone has about birds:

  • What are their characteristics?
  • How can you recognise them? 
  • Where and how do they live?
  • How can they be protected? 

Audience:

EVERYONE! Curious learners, families, tourists, and bilingual households, including foreign speakers integrating into local life.

WARNING: Some activities have to be supervised by adults as it requires the use of tools.

A5 softcover – 76 pages – recycled paper printed in Germany (climat neutral printing).


Bilingual posters

Purpose:

Each poster represents a local environnement (biotope) where it is easy to observe the most common local bird species.

The posters are presenting the biotopes in larger formats, they help to present the typical features of each birds as well as their typical posture in nature. Each bird is named in two languages on the poster.

It can be used as a supporting material for a group / class presentation.

Approach:

  • Contextual Learning: Present the fauna and flora where they appear the most ofter: on the floor, in the trees or in the sky.
  • Educational Insights: Names are provided on the side of the birds for direct identification
  • Visual Appeal: the birds are drawn by a professional naturalist, with typical representation of the species
  • Local representation: three famous area of the city have been used to represent the biotopes.

Format:

A3 – 135 g/m2 recycled paper printed in Germany (climat neutral printing).

Bilingual cards

Purpose:

As for the posters, the cards represent a local environnement (biotope) where it is easy to observe the most common local bird species.

The cards are presenting the biotopes in smaller formats, to share the presence of local birds in the city and identify them in their typical posture in nature. Each bird is named in two languages on the poster.

It will help nature and city lover to share their love of Hamburg.

Format:

  • Folded card 12 cm x 17 cm (when closed) 24 x 17 cm (when opened).
  • Outside printed with an extract of the books on one side
  • Inside is white and writable
